pdfDocs 4 focus on new interface and speed
July 25, 2013
pdfDocs 4 is scheduled for release later this year. This will be a complete rebuild with a focus on delivering speed: speed to load, and speed to print; a new Office 2013 look and feel for improved usability and productivity; new powerful annotating and editing capabilities.
pdfDocs will undergo a complete user interface makeover. It will look less like previous versions of pdfDocs and more like MS Office 2013, complete with Backstage view and Ribbon bars. The all new look pdfDocs 4 will give users all the PDF capabilities they need in a workspace that feels familiar. This will reduce change management and training costs while increasing end user efficiency and productivity.
pdfDocs 4 will sport a larger Editor areas to provide users with more "real estate" to work on the content of individual PDF pages. We have licensed core Adobe PDF technologies in the Acrobat family of products for annotating, editing and manipulating pages that will be incorporated into pdfDocs 4.
Speed, speed, speed
Speed is a key area of development and improvement in the upcoming pdfDocs 4 release. The development teams are focusing on two specific areas:
Speed to load - a significant amount of development time is being spent on speeding up launch times for pdfDocs in cold and warm starts.
Speed to print - equally, our engineers are working on reducing the time it takes to print documents to PDF. This is an issue if you have to print a document that contains hundreds of pages to PDF. Our goal is print documents of this size in seconds.
