Redacting PDF documents
Redaction means removing sensitive information from a document. Redacting documents is a fairly safe and simple process—get a marker and strikethrough the text to redact or hide it.

Redacting PDF documents for some is neither.

Masking is not redacting
Redacting text with opaque objects as some have discovered to their embarrassment in the US military and government is not a foolproof method of redaction.

Saving the PDF document back into Word for example, displays the redacted text.

Take for example The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in the US, which posted an internal guide to passenger screening procedures. Sensitive information is uncovered due to improper redaction.

Redact PDF documents
The Redaction tool in pdfDocs by contrast physically strips out text or an area of a page, completely removing it from the document. It is impossible to retrieve the redacted text.

Search and redact PDFs
In addition, the powerful Redact Text search feature in pdfDocs lets you search for and redact multiple instances of the same text quickly and easily.
