How to work in the Backstage View

When you launch the pdfDocs application, it displays in the Backstage view. From here you can open recently viewed documents or projects. Or, navigate to a document or project on your local or network drive as well as your document management system.

You can also Save, Print, Share the document from the Backstage View.

Save the document

1. Click the File tab.
The Backstage View displays.
2. Select the Save As option.
3. Select which pages to save from the drop-down menu.
4. Specify the file type from the drop-down if other than PDF.
5. Click the [Browse] button and navigate to the save to location on your local system, network drive or DMS.
6. Click the [Save] button.

Save the document into a DMS

1. Click the File tab.
The Backstage View displays.
2. Select the Save As option.
3. Click the [HP WorkSite] button.
4. Specify the Page Range and File Type details.
5. Select to save as a New Document, New Version or as a Related Document from the HP WorkSite drop-down.
6. Click the [Save] button.
The HP WorkSite Save As dialog box displays.
7. Complete any metadata or document filing requirements.
8. Click the [Save] button.
The document is saved into HP WorkSite.

Exit Backstage View

Do one of the following:
1. Click the [Back] button on the left column.
2. Press the [Esc] button on your keyboard.

Print the document

1. Click on the File tab.
The Backstage View displays.
2. Select the Print option.
3. Select your printer and click the [Print] button.
Note: the Preview screen lets you navigate through the document in case you need to print only some pages.

Share the document

1. Click on the File tab.
The Backstage View displays.
2. Select the Share option.
3. Select the file type from the drop-down.
4. Click the Send as Attachment button.
An email message displays with the document attached.

Close the document

1. Click on the File tab.
The Backstage View displays.
2. Select the Close option.
If you made any changes to the document, you will be asked if you want to save the changes.
