High-profile and highly respected Canadian law firm, Paliare Roland, has decided to replace Workshare software in favor of compareDocs and cleanDocs from DocsCorp to bolster its document risk mitigation strategy
Today we announced that Paliare Roland Rosenberg Rothstein LLP has switched to DocsCorp for document comparison and email data breach prevention solutions. The firm was previously using Workshare solutions.
After a short trial of compareDocs for document comparison and cleanDocs for metadata removal and email recipient checking, Paliare Roland made the decision to purchase. Its lawyers can now compare multiple file types (Word to Word, PDF to PDF, and Word to PDF) to see even the smallest of changes, which can end up having a big impact on litigation.
The purchase of cleanDocs is especially timely as Canada’s new notifiable data breach law came into effect on 1 November 2018. Organizations subject to the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) are now obligated to give notice of certain types of privacy breaches. Similar laws have been passed this year in Australia (the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme), the European Union (the General Data Protection Regulation), and in California (the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018).
Paliare Roland will use cleanDocs to protect against the number one source of data breaches: human error. After clicking send, users can now assess the recipient list for external or otherwise risky domains, Reply All, and Forward actions so that they are confident the right information is being sent to the right person. From the same cleanDocs screen, lawyers can remove metadata from documents to prevent inadvertent leaks of sensitive or personal information.
“Paliare Roland is an excellent Canadian law firm that is highly respected by its peers and the clients it serves,” said Matthew Stalder, Vice President DocsCorp North America. “The lawyers there have the tools they need to better manage their documents and spend more time on work that matters.” He continued by saying, “we expect to see an increase in Canadian firms choosing cleanDocs as part of their data protection strategy now that PIPEDA includes mandatory notification. Prevention is always the best cure when it comes to data breaches, and Paliare Roland is one of many firms taking that approach to data privacy with cleanDocs.”
